Granato's Deli

We ate lunch at Granato's on Friday. The location downtown in Salt Lake at 1600 South has lots of seating. We had the muffesello (I think something like that). It's an Italian sandwich. I chose it because the olive spread sounded awesome -- and it was. A great sandwich! The sourdough bread tasted freshly baked. Highly recommended.

Angie's

Angie's is a longtime family favorite in our home town of Logan, Utah. The owner, Sabor, will always hold a special place in our hearts. My late uncle was one of those guys you see hanging out at diners, nursing a cup of coffee for hours. He used to hang out at Angie's for hours and even became a sort of "grandfather" to the owner's kids who worked there. Sabor always treated my late uncle with respect and even give him a great tribute at his funeral.

I think this graciousness extends down to his staff. I recently took my parents to Angie's for Mother's day lunch. The host recognized my dad's name and asked if he was the one who's been helping his mother over the years, shoveling snow, turning on the water, etc. He went out of his way to take care of us and my parents appreciated it.

The meal, as always, was awesome. It's just great American fare. I chose on of the burgers and everything was fresh and perfect.

If you're in Logan and looking for a real local treat, then I highly recommend Angie's.

A friend took me to lunch here the other day. We arrived around 12:30 and line was very big. Not all that unusual for restaurants in town. The service is cafeteria-style, very similar to Cafe Rio. You choose from steak, pork, chicken and then rice and/or macaroni salad.

My friend was raving about the macaroni salad. He also explained the plate sizes, saying the mini was plenty of food, the regular would be enough for 2-3 meals. So I went with the mini. I normally have a hearty appetite and I was not disappointed. The mini is plenty.

The meat, chicken and pork, was tender and very tasty. Excellent. I will definitely return. they have take out so stopping by for dinner is also in my plans.

Loved it!
